Expected Learning Outcomes

To orientate the student to learn the fundamentals of the major and most frequent cardiovascular diseases, integrating the pathophysiological study with the clinical methodology, the diagnostic procedures, and the pharmacological treatment directly and indirectly related to the practice of dentistry, in order to understand the indications of the pharmacological therapy of systemic pathologies, the interferences with the dental therapies, and their optimal management.

Detailed Course Content

  • Cardiovascular causes of chest pain, Ischemic cardiopathy, Pericarditis, Pulmonary embolism, Aortic dissection
  • Hypertension and hypertensive emergency
  • Hypotension. Syncope. Cardiac arrest and CRP
  • Heart failure. Atrial fibrillation
  • Endocarditis and prophylaxis
  • Prosthetic valves and intracardiac devices. Anticoagulant therapy
