Expected Learning Outcomes

The educational objectives of the course are to list the principles of fixed prosthesis on natural teeth. Therapies will be evaluated in the rehabilitation of the single tooth and the treatment of the missing tooth. Particular attention will be given to the first visit and to the formulation of the treatment plan.

The course is supplemented by free student participation in local, national and international scientific events organized in the field of dental prosthesis.

The skills acquired will lead the student to develop a critical capacity on the topics covered using the skills in an active way for the purposes of prosthetic rehabilitation.

Course Structure

Lectures, professional internship, seminars. If the course is taught in mixed or distance mode, the necessary changes may be introduced with respect to what was previously stated, in order to comply with the program envisaged and reported in the syllabus.
The verification of learning can also be carried out electronically, should the conditions require it.

Required Prerequisites

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the odontostomatological field. Knowledge of the pathogenesis and clinical aspects of mucous and bone pathologies of the oro-maxillofacial area. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology in the oral  field.

Knowledge of Complete denture

The treatment plan in simple and complex cases
Indications and biomechanics of preparations
- Horizontal and vertical preparations: shoulder, chamfer, knife blade
- The prosthetic margin and conditioning of the gingival sulcus
- The finishing of the preparations
The temporary ones
- The provisional pre-filing
- Different techniques for relining the temporaries with acrylic or composite resin
- The second provisional
The final traditional and digital impression
- The management of fabrics
- Technique with single thread and double thread
- Impression materials
- The choice of standard and individual impression trays
- The implant impression
The laboratory steps for the construction of the substructure
