Programme Description
In recent years, technological innovation in the biomedical field has played a crucial role in improving diagnosis, therapies, and the development of new healthcare technologies. The PhD Programme in Technological Innovation in the Biomedical Field represents a natural extension of the new Medicine and Surgery degree programme, delivered in English and characterized by a strong technological orientation. Its aim is to train researchers capable of developing projects that bridge the gap between basic research and clinical applications, fostering the integration of technology into the translational research process in both directions.
A fundamental objective of the programme is the integration of the various fields of medicine and surgical sciences by promoting collaboration across different disciplines. The programme will encourage cooperation among clinicians, researchers, the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, and public institutions, supporting the development of new healthcare organizational models and training professionals with specialized expertise. Another key aspect of the programme is the internationalization of research through the strengthening of existing collaborations and the promotion of multidisciplinary research projects.
At the same time, PhD candidates will acquire a solid methodological foundation in scientific research, including the formulation of experimental hypotheses, the design of experimental studies, the critical interpretation of research findings, and an understanding of the ethical implications of biomedical research. The programme is designed to support recent graduates from different scientific disciplines in pursuing careers in experimental biomedicine and/or clinical research. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have gained advanced training in research methodologies together with excellent scientific communication skills, both written and oral.
