Module Pedodontics

The learning objective is to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of the diseases of the oral cavity occurring in pediatric age as well as the correct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. At the end of the course the students will have to know the appropriate psychological approach to the young patients, the concepts of embryology and growth of the stomatognathic apparatus and their implications related to the malformations of the jaws, the dental anomalies, the different types of malocclusion; they will also have to know how to diagnose and treat caries, endodontic inflammation and its complications, bad habits, mucositis and temporomandibular joint disorders. Students will have to acquire the knowledge necessary to promptly identify the clinical signs of malocclusion in developmental age and to discern the timing and the appropriate strategies for orthodontic-interceptive and facial orthopedic treatments.
