Achieve and obtain optimal skills in the management of oral medicine and patient pathology in odontostomatology. Achieve and obtain optimal skills in the anatomy, diagnosis, and therapy of hard and soft tissue pathologies of the oro-maxillofacial area.
The teaching is set up to guide and improve the student's approach to the patient with various problems, ranging from the correct analysis of periodontal anatomy in physiology and pathophysiology and specific in the diagnosis in the patient affected by diseases of the oral cavity of the patient who presents with a specific pathology in the oral cavity or in the craniofacial area and which requires therapy aimed at the symptom, as well as a diagnosis and therapy aimed at the responsible pathology. In particular, the student must be able to obtain a correct degree of definition of the different forms of oral pathology and perform a careful analysis of the clinical scenario in which the problem occurs, up to the formulation of hypotheses for the resolution of the problem presented ( therapeutic options) with specific modules on physical and instrumental semeiotics, clinical methodology and non-surgical and surgical therapy of the patient affected by oral pathologies.
The course is complemented by the free participation of students in local, national and international scientific events organized in the field of oral medicine.
The skills acquired will lead the student to develop a critical capacity on the topics dealt with using the skills actively for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in the management of special odontostomatological pathology.
Course Structure
Lectures accompanied by slides and movies and supplemented by discussion of the topics treated in order to train students in a critical capacity on the topics and to acquire a knowledge suitable for surical management in patients affected by specific oral pathologies of the gold-maxillofacial district. Final oral exam.
Detailed Course Content
Surgical management with knowledge of guidelines, operating protocols related to oral pathology in odontostomatology.

• Outline of systematic, topographical and radiological anatomy of hard and soft oral tissues
• Periodontal semeiotics of gingival and mucous tissues
• Elementary lesions of the oral cavity
• Histopathological aspects of the main oral lesions
• Dental anomalies
• Dental retentions and inclusions
• Oral cancer
• Oral lichen
• Leukoplakia
• Paraphysiological conditions of the oral cavity
• Osteonecrosis of the jaws
